How to switch between GIDS Applet and cv Applet on a smart card in Windows 10?

If you want to use a certificate from the GIDS applet, you will have to follow these steps:

  1. Deinstall cv act sc/interface.
  2. Open "Run" with "Windows Logo Key + R".
  3. In the "Run"-window enter certmgr.msc and press enter key.
  4. In the window "certmgr" click the arrow left from "Personal" and mark "Certificates".
  5. You should see in the right area all personal certificates, which are registered with your computer.
  6. Mark the certificates, which are saved in the cv Applet and click the red x from the menu bar.
  7. Close the window "certmgr".


If you want to use a certificate from the cv applet, you will have to follow these steps:

  1. Open "Run" with "Windows Logo Key + R".
  2. In the "Run"-window enter regedit and press enter key.
  3. In the Registry Editor change to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Calais".
  4. You should see the registry entry "IDMP ATR Cache".
  5. Move with the mouse over "IDMP ATR Cache" and click with the right mouse button.
  6. Select "Delete" from the context menu.
  7. Close the Registry Editor.
  8. Open "Run" with "Windows Logo Key + R".
  9. In the "Run"-window enter certmgr.msc and press enter key.
  10. In the window "certmgr" click the arrow left from "Personal" and mark "Certificates".
  11. You should see in the right area all personal certificates, which are registered with your computer.
  12. Mark the certificates, which are saved in the GIDS Applet and click the red x from the menu bar.
  13. Close the window "certmgr".

These additional steps are only necessary for Windows 10 with 64 Bit-system type:

  1. Open "Run" with "Windows Logo Key + R".
  2. In the "Run"-window enter regedit and press enter key.
  3. In the Registry Editor change to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Cryptography\Calais".
  4. If you see the registry entry "IDMP ATR Cache", then follow the next steps, otherwise close the Registry Editor.
  5. Move with the mouse over "IDMP ATR Cache" and click with the right mouse button.
  6. Select "Delete" from the context menu.
  7. Close the Registry Editor.
